Glaze and craftsmanship
Each piece is one of a kind.
Each vessel is individually handcrafted, finished by hand and high-fired. During this process, the clay shrinks naturally, so dimensions and capacity may vary slightly from the stated values, typically by up to ± 5 %. Minor irregularities in shape and contour are likewise marks of handcraft and do not affect stability or function.
Our effect glazes develop individual colour gradients, depth and subtle variations in sheen during firing. Small differences in colour intensity, glaze flow and surface texture are characteristic of handcrafted ceramics and highlight the uniqueness of each piece.

The Kyathos is a handmade ceramic mug with a handle, inspired by an ancient ladle from the symposium and reinterpreted for hot and cold beverages, contemporary table culture, hospitality, and daily use.
The Form
The Kyathos is a handmade stoneware ceramic mug, whose historical form was used as a ladle in the 6th century BC. With its high loop handle, the ancient Kyathos was used to scoop the wine-water mixture from a krater and fill it into drinking vessels.
The XENIOS reinterpretation preserves the rounded vessel body, the open rim, and the characteristic handle that extends above the rim. The flat, slightly offset base and the lateral, ergonomic guidance of the handle translate the historical shape into a contemporary drinking mug.
